The
basic principles of using zinc-titanium sheets
ZINC-TITANIUM SHEETS
The zinc-titanium sheets are manufactured of refined zinc complying
with PN-EN 1179 standard,
grade Z1, with minimum Zn content of 99.995%, with the addition
of 0.06 - 0.2% of titanium, 0.08 - 1.0% of copper and up to
0.015% of aluminum, using strand casting, then strip milling.
The strip is cut to sheets or narrower strips. The sheets and
strips meet the requirements of the PN-EN
988 standard. |

The application
The zinc-titanium sheets and strips are a special
material, both from the technical and aesthetic point of view:
they may be easily formed and
under the influence of the surrounding air they form protective layer
with high corrosion resistance.
The zinc-titanium sheets and strips, used mainly in buildings, have
outstanding properties compared
with galvanized steel or aluminum sheets. The galvanized sheets are
plated with a thin layer of zinc, which is damaged in time, uncovering
iron, which together with zinc and water (mostly acid) creates galvanic
batteries causing corrosion pits and pinholes.
Therefore they require expensive maintenance at the intervals of several
years, containing rust removal and painting with suitable paints.
The aluminum sheets cannot be soldered, which makes their installation
more difficult and prevents the repair of thermal cracks developing
in time.
Compared with galvanized sheets, the zinc-titanium sheets have significantly
better resistance to weather, lower anisotropy, greater flexural
strength and much better mechanical properties.
Because of these properties, the zinc-titanium sheets and strips are
mostly used for roofing, protection of different elements of
buildings (cornices, windows sills, façades, balconies chimneys) and
for gutters.
The zinc-titanium sheets and strips:
require
no painting
have
life extending 80 years, even in industrial environment,
have
suitable rigidity,
are
easy to solder. |

Packaging
The sheets are shipped in lots of 1000
kg on wooden pallets. The strips are shipped on pallets, placed
in vertical or horizontal position depending on the mass of coils.
The mass of coils is in the range from 100 to 3500 kg.
Transport and storage
The sheets should be transported
with clean and dry transport means. The transported and stored sheets
must be protected from moisture.
The storage temperature should be
over 0oC. The stored sheets should be protected from moisture and
chemicals.
Recycling
Even the materials with longest life become useless in time. This
does not however apply to the zinc-titanium sheets and strips,
for the roofing elements of zinc-titanium steel, removed during modernization
or repair of buildings, are processed in the metallurgical works without
harm to the environment.
The maximum length of elements of zinc-titanium
sheets.
- Roofing and cladding of external walls - 10m
- Hanging gutters - 15m
- Sealing of roof edge - 8m
- Fringes of roof edge - 6m
